To pull up the Holdings Record for a book, CD, video or other monograph, you must do one of the following:
A holdings record lists all the items or copies that the library owns for a particular title and gives the location and call number:
![[Book holdings record]](/aleph/help/holdings_book.gif)
In the example above, you will notice that the first volume of Lord of the Rings is checked out and due on December 6, 2004. Volumes 2 and 3 are not checked out and are available in the UWF Library Book Stacks under the call number PR 6039 .O32 L4 2001.
UWF faculty, students and staff are able to request that an item which is currently checked out be recalled and held for them. (Unless needed for course reserve, all users have exclusive rights to an item for 28 days. After those 28 days have passed, another UWF affiliate may request the item.) In our example above, if you wanted to request Volume 1 of Lord of the Rings, you would just click on the Request link to the left of "v. 1" in the items list. This utility requires that you sign-in with your Nautilus Card or Library Access Number if you have not already done so.
NOTE: The holdings display for a journal, magazine, newspaper, or similar serial is a little different. See the help screen for Holdings Record (Journals) for more details.
